I love being introduced to new ingredients. This has happened A LOT since going plant-based. One of the newest things that I have become OBSESSED with is the Butler Soy Curls. They have an amazing meat-like texture and the applications for them are ENDLESS. John and I's favorite way to enjoy them has been by making this Soy Curl Pepper Steak Recipe.
- 1 8oz package of Butler Soy Curls, soaked and drained
- 1 Red Bell Pepper, sliced
- 1 Green Bell Pepper, sliced
- 1 Onion, Sliced
- 1/4 c Soy Sauce
- 1/2 c Water
- 1 tsp Gravy Master
- 1 Tbsp Maple Syrup or Brown Sugar
- 1 tsp Ginger, minced
- 1 tsp Onion Powder
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1Tbsp Corn Starch
To begin you will need to reconstitute the soy curls.
Simple place them in a large mixing bowl and cover with hot water. Let them site for 10-30 minutes.
While the soy curls are soaking go ahead and mix up the sauce.
Combine the soy sauce, water, gravy master, onion powder, garlic powder, maple syrup, and corn starch and mix.
Sit to the side.
Now you can drain the soy curls. Take a moment to press out any excess liquid.
It's so crazy how much like chicken this looks right away.
Now things are going to go really fast.
Add the peppers and onion to a hot pan. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until soft and tender.
Now add the drained soy curls and let them brown in the pan for 5-10 minutes.
If you notice them starting to stick, just add a little water or vegetable broth to the pan.
When the the soy curls have browned, add the sauce.
Stir until everything is coated in the sauce and excess has been absorb from the pan.
Allow it a couple minutes to further brown.
And as always...
