One of our very favorite meals is Homemade Salisbury Steak. My cousin gave me the recipe at my bridal shower 20 years ago and we have loved it ever since. I didn't think it was possible for it to get any better until now.
This Crockpot Salisbury Steak Recipe has all the great flavors of the stove top version I love with the ease of the slow cooker. I can't wait to share this one with you so...
Let's Get Started!
For this Crockpot Salisbury Steak Recipe you will need a few simple ingredients:
- 1 lb. Ground Beef
- 1/4 c Bread Crumbs
- 1 Egg, lightly beaten
- 1 Tbsp. Dried Minced Onion
- Salt & Pepper, to taste
- 1 Onion, sliced
- 2 cups Mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cups Beef Broth
- 1/4 cup Worcestershire Sauce
- 2 Tbsp Cornstarch
- 1/4 c water
To begin you will combine the ground beef, egg, bread crumbs, dried minced onion, salt and pepper in a mixing bowl.
It will look a little something like this when you are finished.
Divide the meat mixture into four equal parts and make the salisbury steak patties.
In a hot pan, brown the salisbury steak patties on both sides, about 2 minutes per side.
You are not cooking the meat all the way through, just browning.
While the salisbury steak patties are browning, you can slice the onions and mushrooms.
Place the sliced onion in the bottom of the slow cooker.
Next add the salisbury steak patties on top of the sliced onions.
Add the mushrooms to the slow cooker.
Pour in the beef broth.
Finally, add the Worcestershire Sauce.
Place the lid on the crockpot and set on LOW for 6 hours.
After 6 hours your salisbury steak will look like this.
You are going to remove the salisbury steak patties from the slow cooker and sit to the side.
In a small bowl combine the cornstarch and water to make a slurry.
This is what we are going to use to thicken the gravy.
Mix the slurry into the beef broth and cook for another 30 minutes on HIGH.
After 30 minutes the gravy will be thicker and you can return the Salisbury Steaks back to the crockpot.
Serve the Crockpot Salisbury Steaks with some mashed potatoes and mixed veggies and you have a PERFECT meal!
These Crockpot Salisbury Steaks were so light and fluffy, not dense like you would think a beef patty would be. It was delicious and I know you're gonna love it so get in the kitchen and give it a try TONIGHT!
And as always...
