Fried Cabbage with Potatoes and Sausage Recipe

I don't know if it's a West Virginia thing or just a "gotta get dinner on the table" thing, but around here a quick weeknight go-to meal is Fried Cabbage with Potatoes and Sausage

I grew up eating this and what's perfect about Fried Cabbage with Potatoes and Sausage is that it's inexpensive, and is ready in under 30 minutes.  I know you're gonna love this one so...

Let's get started!

For this Fried Cabbage with Potatoes and Sausage Recipe you are going to need a few simple ingredients:

  • 1 head of Cabbage, sliced and diced
  • 1 lb Smoked Sausage, sliced
  • 1-2 Large Potatoes, sliced
  • 1 Onion, diced
  • 4 Cloves of Garlic, minced
  • 1/4 c water
(Optional)
  • 2 Tbsp Mustard
  • 1 Tbsp Brown Sugar
To begin you will need a deep skillet on a medium/high heat with a little bit of oil.

To the hot skillet add the sliced smoked sausage to brown.

Once the sausage has browned, add the onion and potatoes.

Cover and cook for 10 minutes.

Now add the garlic and...

Cabbage.

Season with salt and pepper.

Add the water to the pan.

**It's also at this point you can add the mustard and sugar.  That is just another version that we like from time to time.**

Cover and cook for 10 more minutes.

Give everything a stir, taste for seasoning, and you are ready to eat!
