Let's Get started!

WHY MAKE MULLED WINE AT HOME?

Homemade mulled wine has several perks:
  • Customizable Flavors:  Adjust spices and sweetness to suit your taste.
  • Budget Friendly:  Skip the pricey pre-bottled versions.
  • Ambiance:  You home will smell like a holiday wonderland while it simmers.

INGREDIENTS YOU'LL NEED:

  • 1 Bottle of your favorite Red Wine (Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon work great)
  • 1 cup Mango Nectar or Orange Juice
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 cup Fresh Cranberries
  • 1 Orange, sliced into rounds
  • 8 Cloves
  • 2 Star Anise
  • 2 Cinnamon Sticks
  • OPTIONAL:  1/4 cup brandy for an extra kick
**FOR A FAMILY FRIENDLY OPTION OMIT THE WINE AND USE CIDER**

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS:
  1. Combine the Ingredients:  Pour the wine and juice into a large pot or slow cooker.  Add the brown sugar, cranberries, orange slices, coves, star anise, and cinnamon sticks.
  2. Simmer Gently:  Heat the mixture over low to medium heat.  Avoiding boiling, as this can cook off the alcohol and alter the flavor.  Let it simmer for 20-30 minutes to allow the spices to infuse.
  3. Taste and Adjust:  Taste your mulled wine and adjust the sweetness or spice levels as needed.  If using brandy, add it towards the end of the simmering process.
  4. Serve Warm:  Strain the mulled wine to remove the spices and orange slices, then ladle it into mugs.  Garnish with a cinnamon stick or an orange wedge for a festive touch.

  • Make it Ahead:  Mulled wine tastes even better after sitting for a few hours.  Simply reheat gently before serving.
