Instant Pot Cajun Pasta with Sausage Recipe

INGREDIENTS:
For this Instant Pot Cajun Pasta with Sausage you will need a few simple ingredients:

The ingredients needed to make the Instant Pot Cajun Pasta with Sausage Recipe.

  • 1 lb. of Smoked or Andouille Sausage 
  • 1 lb. of Fettuccine Pasta, broke in half
  • 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 Green Bell Pepper, diced
  • 1 Onion, Diced
  • 3 Stalks of Celery, diced
  • 1 Tbsp Garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp Cajun Seasoning (less if you want it less spicy)
  • 1 (14.5 oz) can of diced tomatoes 
  • 4 cups Chicken Broth
  • 2 cups Heavy Cream
  • 2 cups Shredded Parmesan
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste
  • Sliced Green Onion, optional

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Prep the Sausage and Vegetables:  Start by slicing the into bite-size pieces.  Chop the onions, bell pepper, celery, and garlic. 
  2. Sauté the Sausage and Vegetables:  Turn on your Instant Pot and set it to the sauté function.  Add the olive oil and allow it to heat up.  Add the sausage pieces and cook until browned.  Remove the sausage and set it aside.  In the same pot, add the chopped onion and bell pepper.  Sauté until they are tender, about 3-4 minutes.  Add the minced garlic and cook for another 1 minute.  
  3. Add the Remaining Ingredients:  Pour in the chicken broth, diced tomatoes, and Cajun seasoning.  
  4. Cook the Pasta:  Add the uncooked pasta to the Instant Pot, making sure the pasta is submerged in the liquid. Place the lid on the Instant Pot, making sure the vent is set to SEALING.  Press the MANUAL button and cook for 10 minutes.  After the 10 minute cooking time do a quick release by setting the valve to VENTING. When the pressure has fully released, remove the lid and stir everything together.  
  5. Add the Cream and Cheese:  Press the Sauté button once again.  Add the heavy cream and Parmesan cheese.  Simmer for 5 minutes to allow the sauce to thicken.  
  6.  Serve and Enjoy:  Garnish with sliced green onion and serve hot.  This dish pairs wonderfully with a side salad of garlic bread.  







Crockpot Instructions:
  1. Add the sausage, green bell pepper, onion, celery, garlic, cajun seasoning, pasta, and chicken broth to the crockpot.
  2. Make sure all the pasta is submerged in the liquid. 
  3. Place the lid on the crockpot and cook on LOW for 5 hours.  
  4. After 5 hours, add the heavy cream and shredded cheese.  
  5. Stir everything together.  
  6. Turn the crockpot to HIGH for 30 minutes to let the sauce thicken. 
  7. Serve and Enjoy!

TIPS FOR SUCCESS:
  • Choose the Right Sausage:  Andouille sausage is tradition in Cajun cooking, but feel free to use your favorite variety.
  • Adjust the heat:  If you like your food extra spicy, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or extra Cajun seasoning.  
  • Creamy Consistency:  For a thicker sauce, resuce the heavy cream to 3/4 cup and add more Parmesan cheese.

How to cook Instant Pot Cajun Pasta with Sausage Recipe

Instant Pot
  1. Set the Instant Pot to sauté.  Allow it to get hot and add a little oil. 
  2. Add the sausage and brown, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the green pepper, onion, celery, garlic, and cajun seasoning.  Cook for 2-3 minutes until soft and translucent.  
  4. Add the chicken broth and pasta.  Stir everything together making sure all of the pasta is submerged in the liquid.  
  5. Place the lid on the Instant Pot and set the valve on SEALING.  
  6. Set the Instant Pot to MANUAL and the timer on 10 minutes. 
  7. Allow it to come to pressure.  Once at pressure it will begin to cook. 
  8. When 10 minutes has elapsed turn the valve to VENTING for a quick release.  
  9. Remove the lid and give everything a stir. 
  10. Add the cream and cheese.  Stir everything together.  
  11. Set the Instant Pot to SAUTE once more and let simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.  
  12. When the sauce is thick creamy it's time to eat!  
  13. Serve and Enjoy!
Crockpot
  1. Add the sausage, green pepper, onion, celery, garlic, cajun seasoning, pasta, and chicken broth to the crockpot. 
  2. Make sure all the pasta is submerged in the liquid.
