Instant Pot Cajun Pasta with Sausage Recipe

Over the years I have found cajun cooking to be very similar to West Virginia cooking in the sense that we use the simple, inexpensive ingredients we have on hand to great delicious food.  One such recipe for me is this Instant Pot Cajun Pasta with Sausage.

A plate of the finished Cajun Pasta topped with sliced green onion and the title above.

I used only a few pantry staples and created this AMAZING comfort dish that was ready in UNDER 30 minutes!  You can't beat that!  I know you're gonna love this one so...

Let's get started!

For this Instant Pot Cajun Pasta with Sausage you will need a few simple ingredients:

The ingredients needed to make the Instant Pot Cajun Pasta with Sausage Recipe.

  • 1 lb. of Smoked Sausage, sliced
  • 1 lb. of Fettuccine Pasta, broke in half
  • 1 Green Bell Pepper, diced
  • 1 Onion, Diced
  • 3 Stalks of Celery, diced
  • 1 Tbsp Garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp Cajun Seasoning
  • 4 cups Chicken Broth
  • 2 cups Heavy Cream
  • 2 cups Shredded Parmesan
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste
  • Sliced Green Onion, optional

The instant pot set on sauté.

To begin you will need to place your instant pot on the sauté setting.

Allow it to get hot and add a little oil.

The smoked sausage sliced, and placed in the instant pot.

Next add the sliced smoked sausage and let it brown.
This takes about 5 minutes.

The diced green pepper, onions, and celery added to the instant pot with the sausage.

After that you will add what is known as the holy trinity, the green pepper, onion, and celery.

After all, it ain't cajun cooking if your ain't using your trinity!

Minced garlic being added to the instant pot.

Now add the minced garlic and...

Cajun seasoning being added to the crockpot.

cajun seasoning.

Stir everything around and let the vegetables sauté until they are soft and translucent, about 2-3 minutes.

The chicken broth being added to the instant pot.

Pour in the chicken broth.

The fettuccini being added to the instant pot.

Add the pasta.

Making sure all the ingredients are covered with the chicken broth.

You are going to want to make sure the pasta is totally submerged in the liquid.
Otherwise you are going to have crispy bits of pasta and no one wants that.  lol

Making sure the valve on the instant pot is set to sealing.

Place the lid on your Instant Pot and make sure the valve is set to SEALING not venting.

The instant pot is not set on manual for 10 minutes.

Set the Instant Pot to MANUAL for 10 minutes.

Allow it to come to pressure and then the timer will begin to count down.

We are so close y'all!

The valve is not turned to venting for a quick release.

Once the 10 minutes have elapsed, turn the valve to VENTING for a quick release.

The fully cooked ingredients, in the instant pot.

This is what you will have once you remove the lid.  You can see how most the liquid has been absorbed and the pasta is perfectly cooked!

Heavy cream being added to the instant pot.

Now it's time for the good stuff!

Add the heavy cream and...

Shredded parmesan being added to the instant pot.

shredded parmesan.

The cheese and cream being stirred into the cooked ingredients in the instant pot.

Mix everything together.

The instant pot set to saute to allow the sauce to thicken.

Turn your Instant Pot to the sauté setting and let simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
This will allow the sauce to get thick and creamy.

The finished plate of the Instant Pot Cajun Pasta with Sausage topped with green onion.

Now you are ready to eat!  Would you look at that plate of pasta perfection!  YUM!  I topped this with a little fresh green onion for crunch and let me just tell you, this meal is seriously one of my new favs.  The best part it was super easy and done in no time with very little mess!   I know you're gonna go wild for this one so get in the kitchen and give it a try TONIGHT!  And as always...
