Buffalo Chicken Tacos Recipe

One of my favorite things to do in my down time is watch "What's for Dinner?" videos on Youtube.  I simply type "What's for Dinner?" in the search bar and hit play.  The other day I stumbled across this video from Jess and the Boys where they made these amazing looking Buffalo Chicken Tacos.  


I knew instantly I wanted to try them and I am SO GLAD I did, because they are out-of-this-world!  If you love Buffalo Chicken Wings you are gonna love this recipe so...

Let's Get Started!

For this Buffalo Chicken Taco Recipe you are going to need a few simple ingredients:

The ingredients needed to make Buffalo Chicken Tacos.

  • 4 cups Chicken Cooked and Shredded
  • 1/4 cup Hot Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black Ground Pepper
  • 4 oz. Cream Cheese
  • 3 Tbsp Butter
  • Shredded Cheese
  • Nacho Cheese Flavored, flat bottom, Taco Shells
  • 2 Stalks Celery, Shredded
  • Lettuce, shredded
  • Bleu Cheese or Ranch Dressing
To begin you will need to preheat the oven to 350 degrees. 


Hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a sauce pan on the stove.

Next we are going to make a homemade, cheesy Buffalo Sauce, so place a small Sauce pan on medium high heat and add the hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

Mix it all together and bring to a simmer.

When the hot sauce mixture has come to a simmer, add the cream cheese and butter.

Whisk it all together until the butter and cream cheese has melted and is incorporated into he sauce.

Now you can add the fully cooked, shredded chicken to the homemade cheesy Buffalo Sauce.

There are a multitude of ways that you can cook your chicken.  Roast it, boil it, buy a rotisserie chicken.  However for this recipe I cooked my chicken in my Instant Pot and this is how I did it.


  1. Place 2 chicken breasts in the Instant Pot. 
  2. Season with Salt and Pepper.
  3. Add 1 cup of chicken brother or water.
  4. Place the lid on the Instant Pot and make sure the valve is set to Sealing.  
  5. Press the MANUAL button and set the timer for 10 minutes. 
  6. Once the timer has gone off, do a quick release, remove the lid, remove the chicken from the Instant Pot, and shred it with forks.

Stir the chicken into the sauce until it is fully coated.

Y'all, I can't even begin to tell you how BOMB this filling is.

Now you will place your nacho cheese flavored taco shells into a baking dish.  The stand-up ones make this so easy.

I know what you are going to ask me.  "Kitchen Wife, are the nacho cheese flavored shells necessary?" My answer to that will always and forever be YES!  Yes, it is necessary.

Add a little of the cheesy buffalo chicken tacos mixture to each taco shell.

Top it off with a little shredded cheese because why not!?!

Place the baking dish with the Buffalo Chicken Tacos in the oven just long enough for the cheese to get nice and melty.

Now you could totally stop here, but it gets better!

(PS-I thought this was genius.  The celery helps to cut heat and, if you are like my husband and do not like the texture of celery, it kind of blends into the lettuce.

Speaking of lettuce, time to add that to the Buffalo Chicken Tacos as well.

Top with some MORE shredded cheese.

Bleu Cheese Dressing drizzled over the tacos.

And finally drizzle with some bleu cheese or ranch dressing, whichever you prefer.

How to cook Buffalo Chicken Taco Recipe

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. 
  2. Place a small sauce pan over medium/high heat and add the hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix together and bring to a simmer. 
  3. Once at a simmer, add the cream cheese and butter to the sauce. Whisk together until melted and smooth. 
  4. Add the chicken to the sauce and stir until coated. 
  5. Place the taco shells into a baking sheet. Fill with the buffalo chicken filling and top with some shredded cheese. Place in the oven and bake just long enough for the cheese to get nice and melty. 
  6. Remove from the oven and top the buffalo chicken tacos with the shredded celery, lettuce, more shredded cheese, and bleu cheese or ranch dressing.  
  7. Serve and Enjoy!

NOTES:
