Grilled Teriyaki Meatball Kebabs: A Flavorful and Easy BBQ Delight

 Welcome to my West Virginia kitchen!  During these hot summer days (or any day really lol) no one wants to be standing over a hot stove, cooking dinner.  I know I don't, and I can't imagine you do either.  So today I am bringing you a grilled take on a stir-fry classic Grilled Teriyaki Meatballs!

This recipe combines juicy meatballs with a savory teriyaki glaze, making it a hit at any summer gathering.  Whether you're hosting a backyard party or a simple family dinner, these kebabs are sure to impress.  I can't wait to share them with you so...

Let's Get Started!  


For these Grilled Teriyaki Meatballs you will need to gather a few simple ingredients:

For the Meatballs:
  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup Milk
  • 1/4 cup Onion, finely chopped
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Tbsp Garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
  • or 1 (32 oz) bag of Frozen Meatballs (thawed)
For the Teriyaki Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Soy Sauce
  • 1.5 cup Water
  • 1/4 cup Brown Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp Honey
  • 1 Tbsp Garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Ginger 
  • 1 tsp Sesame Oil

For the Kebabs:
  • Red Onion, cut into chunks
  • Bell Peppers, cut into chunks
  • Mushrooms
  • Broccoli Florets
  • Wooden or Metal Skewers
  • Green Onions, sliced
  • Toasted Sesame Seeds


Step 1:  Prepare the Teriyaki Sauce:
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, water, brown, sugar, honey, minced garlic, and grated ginger.  
  2. Simmer and Thicken:  Simmer over medium heat until the sugar has dissolved and the sauce has thickened.  Let cool. 

Step 2:  Prepare the Meatballs
  1. In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, finely chopped onion, egg, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper until well combined.  
  2. Shape the mixture into 1 inch meatballs and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. 
Step 3:  Preheat the Grill
  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 375°F-400°F).
Step 4:  Assemble the Kebabs
  1. Thread the meatballs, red onion, bell pepper, mushrooms, and broccoli onto the skewers, alternating between each ingredients. 
Step: 5:  Grill the Kebabs
  1. Place kebabs on the preheated grill.  
  2. Grill for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally and brushing with teriyaki sauce, until the meatballs are cooked through and have a nice char. 
Step 6:  Serve
  1. Remove the kebabs from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes. 
  2. Serve the grilled Teriyaki Meatball Kebabs hot, garnished with chopped green onions with a side of rice.  

  • Soak wooden skewers in water for at least 30 minutes before grilling to prevent them from burning.
  • Use Fresh Ingredients for be flavor.  
  • Experiment with Vegetables:  Feel free to add pineapple, zucchini, or cherry tomatoes to your kebabs for extra variety.
