Oil Free Sauteéd Green Bean Recipe

When it comes to sides it doesn't get any better than green beans to me.  Growing up in West Virginia I was brought up with them being cooked to death with hammock or bacon.  If that's your thing I'll link that recipe HERE, but since going vegan I try to keep things a little lighter and of course meat-free.  That is why I LOVE this Oil Free Sauteéd Green Bean Recipe.

These oil free sauteéd green beans are pack full of flavor without any of the oil or fat.  The slight crisp makes them the perfect paring for those heavy holiday meals.  And the best part, they take no time at all to make.  I can't wait to share them with you so...

Let's Get Started!

For this Oil Free Sauteéd Green Bean Recipe you will need a few simple ingredients:

  • 1 lb Fresh Green Beans, trimmed
  • 1 Red Bell Pepper, diced
  • 1 Red Onion, diced
  • 4-6 Cloves of Garlic, sliced
  • 1/4 Vegetable Stock
  • 1 tsp Seasoning Salt
  • 1 tsp Dried Basil
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste
To begin place your skillet over medium/high heat and allow it to get hot.

We are keeping this oil free so you will want to make sure you have a little water or vegetable broth on hand to keep things from sticking.

Once the pan is hot, add the red bell pepper and onion to the pan.

Cook for 2-3 minutes until the pepper is tender and the onion is soft and translucent.

Now add the garlic to the pan and cook for approximately 1 minute.

Now you can add your green beans to the pan.

Add your seasonings and

vegetable broth.

Stir everything around until it is coated.

Place a lid over the pan and cook for about 5 minutes stirring occasionally.
I like the added flavor that the broth adds to the vegetables.

Now remove the lid and cook until all the broth has evaporated, 2-3 minutes.

I like to finish them with a little chunky sea salt.

And there you have it!  A beautiful bowl of Oil Free Sauteéd Green Beans!

I love how bright and festive they look on my holiday table, but let's face it, these Oil Free Sauteéd Green Beans are so easy they are perfect to have ANY night of the week (and secretly I ate this entire bowl when I was finished.) I know you and your family are going to love them so get in the kitchen and give them a try TONIGHT!

And as always...
