Around these parts fried chicken is a staple.  In fact, I would be brazen enough to say that some of the best fried chicken in the world takes place in the humble kitchens of West Virginia. The key to the #CrispiestChicken is in the crust, and in today's post I have partnered with Argo® Corn Starch to show you my secret weapon for #CrispyChicken, and bring you a fun take on this old classic with my Sweet and Spicy Asian #FriedChicken Recipe.

You won't believe how easy this recipe is and I know you're gonna love it so...

Let's Get Started!

For this Sweet & Spicy Asian Fried Chicken Recipe you will need a few simple ingredients.

The ingredients needed to make the Sweet and Spicy Asian Fried Chicken

  • Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts
  • 2/3 cup Lite Soy Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Ground Ginger
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Black Pepper
  • Oil
  • 1 cup All Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 cup Argo® Corn Starch
  • Sweet Chili Sauce

To begin I like to trim off all the unsavory bits from my chicken.

Next, in a small dish, you will combine the soy sauce, ground ginger, and garlic.

The marinade poured over the chicken in a resealable bag.

Place the chicken in to a container and pour the marinade over it.

Let the chicken marinate for 30 minutes to overnight.

Now, here is my secret weapon for the CRISPIEST fried chicken you will ever eat!  It's the combination of flour and Argo® Corn Starch!

Sure the all purpose flour with give you a nice crust, but if you want the lightest, crispiest crust you've ever tasted, then the Argo® Corn Starch is a MUST!

The flour, cornstarch, and various seasonings in a resealable bag.

Combine the flour, Argo® Corn Starch, and pepper in to a bag and mix together.

Add the marinated chicken to the flour/corn starch combo and give it a shake until the chicken is fully coated.

Now place a skillet over a HIGH heat and add 1 inch of oil to your pan.

Gently place the breaded chicken into the skillet.

Fry for 4-5 minutes on both sides until golden brown.

You will notice the soy sauce give this crust a rich, brown color.  Don't worry it's supposed to look like that.

Once your chicken is fully cooked, remove from the skillet and place on a paper towel for a couple minutes.

Then, drizzle a little of your favorite Sweet Chili Sauce over it.

I like to top my Sweet and Spicy Asian Fried Chicken with sesame seed and sliced green onions and serve with rice and steamed edamame or broccoli.

Sweet and Spicy Asian Fried Chicken

This fun take on an old classic, my Sweet and Spicy Asian Fried Chicken is sure to be a family favorite in no time!

ingredients:

  • Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts
  • 2/3 cup Lite Soy Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Ground Ginger
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Black Pepper
  • Oil
  • 1 cup All Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 cup Argo® Corn Starch
  • Sweet Chili Sauce

How to cook Sweet and Spicy Asian Fried Chicken

  1. Trim any unsavory bits from your chicken.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, ginger, and garlic.
  3. Place the chicken into a container and pour marinade over it.  Marinate for 30 minutes to overnight.  
  4. In a resealable bag, combine the flour, corn starch, and pepper.  Add the marinated chicken and shake until all the chicken is evenly coated.  
  5. Place a skillet over HIGH heat and add 1 inch of oil to the pan.  Allow the oil to get HOT.  
  6. Gently place the chicken into the pan and cook on both sides for 4-5 minutes until fully cooked and golden brown. 
  7. Once fully cooked, remove from pan and place on paper towel to drain any excess oil. 
  8. Drizzled your favorite sweet chili sauce over it and top, if you like, with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
  9. Serve and Enjoy!
