Grilled Chicken Cordon Bleu Recipe: A Healthier Twist on a Classic Dish

If you're looking for a delicious and healthier twist on a classic dish, my Grilled Chicken Cordon Bleu recipe is the perfect choice.

This version retains the rich flavors you love while reducing the calories by skipping the breading and opting for grilling instead of frying.  It's perfect for a family dinner, a special occasion, or meal prepping for the week.  I know you're going to love this one so...

Let's Get Started!

  • 4 Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts
  • 4 Slices of Black Forest Ham, Deli Style
  • 4 Slices of Swiss Cheese
  • 2 tbsp. Dijon Mustard
  • 2 tbsp. Honey
  • 2-3 tbsp. Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 tsp. Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp. Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • Salt & Pepper, to taste

1.  Preheat the Grill:  Start by preheating your grill to medium-high heat (around 375°F to 400°F).  This ensures the chicken cooks evenly and gets those beautiful grill marks.

2.  Prepare the Chicken:  Place the chicken breasts on a cutting board.  Using a sharp knife, carefully slice each breast horizontally to create a pocket.  Be careful not to cut all the way through.

3.  Stuff the Chicken:  Season the inside of the chicken with a pinch of salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.  Place 1 slice of ham and 1 slice of Swiss cheese inside each pocket.

4.  Secure the Chicken:  Use toothpicks to secure the edges of the chicken breasts, preventing the cheese and ham from spilling out during grilling.

5.  Grill the Chicken:  Place the stuffed chicken breasts on the preheated grill.  Grill for about 6-8 minutes per side, or until the chicken in cooked through and has an internal temperature of 165°F,  The cheese should be melted and the chicken should have nice grill marks.

6. Season the Outside:  In a small bowl combine the mustard, honey, olive oil, and spices.  Whisk together until smooth.  Then brush the glaze on the outside of your cooked chicken, giving it a couple minutes to thicken on each side.

7.  Rest and Serve:  Remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes.  This allows the juices to redistribute, making the chicken more tender and flavorful.  Remove the toothpicks before serving.

8,  Garnish and Enjoy:  Garnish with freshly chopped parsley if desired, and serve immediately.  Pair with a side of grilled vegetables or a fresh salad for a complete meal.

  • Choose High-Quality Ingredients:  Use high-quality ham and Swiss cheese for best flavor.
  • Even Thickness:  Pond the chicken breasts to an even thickness before stuffing to ensure they cook evenly.
  • Monitor the Grill:  Keep a close eye on the grill to prevent overcooking and drying out the chicken.

This Grilled Chicken Cordon Bleu recipe is a fantastic way to enjoy a classic dish with a healthier twist.  It's easy to prepare, packed with flavor, and perfect for any occasion.  Give it a try and impress your family and friends with this delightful dish!

And as always...

Happy Eatin' Y'all!
