Homemade Waffles

Homemade Waffles

Saturdays around here are kind of special.  It is the one day of the week that we try to keep free so that we can just spend the day together.  And since breakfast is one of Studhubs favorite meals, I usually try to make something special.  That is why I LOVE this Homemade Waffle recipe.  They are big, fluffy, and beautiful without being overly fussy, because let's face it, no one wants fussy first thing in the morning!  I know you are going to love this recipe so...

Let's Get Started!

Homemade Waffles:
*Prep Time:  10 min.  *Cook Time:  Per waffle maker instructions *Servings:  4 Large Waffles

Ingredients:

  •  1 3/4 c. All Purpose Flour
  • 2 tbsp. Sugar
  • 1 tbsp. Baking Powder
  • 2 Eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 3/4 c. Milk
  • 1/2 c. Unsalted Butter, melted
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla

To begin you will need to add the flour,

Sugar,

Baking powder,

And salt to a large mixing bowl.

Whisk everything together and make a small well in the middle.
Set to the side.

Now, in a smaller bowl, combine the eggs with the...

melted butter.

You want to add a little at a time while whisking.  This is called tempering the eggs.  What
that means is that you are slowly bring the eggs up to temperature without scrambling them.

Now add the vanilla,

And milk.

Whisk it all together and pour into the flour mixture.

Gently stir everything together with a rubber spatula and you are ready to make your waffles!
Don't worry if it is not perfectly smooth.  You want this batter to be slightly lumpy.

Heat your waffle iron according to the directions.

Next spray it with a little cooking spray.
Even if it says it is non-stick, you will need to do this step, TRUST ME!

Pout 1 1/4 c. of the batter into your waffle maker, close and cook according to the directions for your waffle iron.  Mine called for 4-6 minutes.

And there it is!
A beautiful golden brown waffle!

Simply use your fork to remove it from the waffle iron and...

Place in a towel to keep warm while you make the next one.

  1. I doubled the recipe and got 12 waffles. My waffle maker makes round waffles that are divided into 4 triangles. They were crispy on the outside and soft, light, fluffy and tender on the inside. Perfect waffles! Thank you!
