I've had the best time this Souptember experimenting with new ingredients. To me, coming up with all these interesting flavors makes cooking challenges like this fun. I'm especially excited to bring this German Cabbage Soup to the table. Mainly because it's unique to anything I have posted on here before.
Even though the ingredients to this soup are humble, there is NOTHING humble about the taste. There are layers of delicious bold flavors that I know your entire family will love. I can't wait to share it with you so let's get started!
TIPS FOR THIS RECIPE:
Q: Do I have to use sausage?
A: No. Feel free to use any minced meat that you want.
Q: Can I make this Keto?
A: Absolutely! Just replace the potatoes with cauliflower. Or bulk up the meat and cabbage and leave the potatoes out all together.
Q: Can this be made vegan/vegetarian?
A: Yes, You will omit the bacon and use your favorite plant-based minced meat. After that use vegetable broth and you are golden. Use smoked paprika instead of sweet for that smokey flavor the bacon gives.
**If you don't want to mess with cutting the carrots and cabbage you can buy a coleslaw mix instead. It will work just fine.**
