Today is a little bit different kind of recipe for me.
If you have followed me for any length of time, you will know that over the last year I have been working to dramatically cut the amount of chemicals I use in my home and in my life. One of the ways I have done this is by making my own, all natural cleaners.
I have tried SEVERAL different "concoctions" for a good all-purpose cleaner on this journey. Some left films over my counters. For some, the vinegar smell was so strong I found that I just couldn't handle it, and ultimately, I felt most didn't do much for cutting through grease. That was until now. After much trial and error I have found a homemade, all-purpose cleaner, that smells great, doesn't leave a film, and cuts grease! I can't wait to share it with you so
Let's Get Started!
Natural All Purpose Cleaner:
*Prep Time: 3 min. *Cook Time: -- *Difficulty: Easy *Servings: 10 oz. Bottle
Ingredients:
- 2 c. Water
- 1/2 c. White Vinegar
- 1 tbsp. Dr. Bronner's Hemp Citrus Oil Pure Castille Soap (Found Here)
- 10 drops of Lemon Essential Oils (Or 1/4 c. Lemon Juice) (Found Here)
- 1 16 oz. Glass Spray Bottle (Found Here)
You will notice that I included a glass spray bottle in my ingredients. That is because anytime you are working with essential oils you will need to have a glass bottle because the citrus oils will break down the plastic in the regular ones and that would be no good.
To begin, pour the water into the bottle.
Next add the vinegar.
Now the Dr. Bronner's soap.
And finally the Lemon essential oils or lemon juice.
Give it a little shake, and you're all set!
Why did I choose these ingredients?
Well, we all know that vinegar has long been know for it's germ killing qualities. Dr. Bronner's is a natural, safe, and organic castille soap, that doesn't leave a film on your surfaces and can cut through the grease in your kitchen. And finally, while lemon oil is used for many things like cleaning and de-greasing, it makes this cleaner smell great and cuts through that vinegar scent.
I love this homemade cleaner and I know you will to. Give it a try, and let me know what you think!
And as always...

ReplyDeleteJessica, I accidentally removed this when I went to reply, but to answer your question, I don't know. I use this cleaner frequently and don't seem to have a problem, but I am no expert. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help.
DeleteHow do you fit "2 c. Water & 1/2 c. White Vinegar" (20 oz), in a 16oz glass spray bottle?
ReplyDeleteDid this clump?
ReplyDeleteI have never had a problem with it clumping, but that doesn't mean that it won't. You can alway mix together before adding tot he bottle.
DeleteIs this safe on painted wood cabinets?
ReplyDeleteI have used it on mine and haven't had any problems. I would always try an out of the way test spot first.
