Affogato

Life can get so hectic, can't it.

There is work, family, errands, housework, and every thing in between.  Sometimes I feel like I am walking around in a total fog.  That is why, when those little window of opportunities present themselves, you need to seize them and have a little "me time".  I did that very thing this past weekend.  I knew Studhubs was going to be out of town, and Momma Pogue would go to bed around 8 o'clock, so I planned to block out some special time to pamper myself.  Early Friday morning I headed to Walmart to get everything I needed so there would be no distractions later.  This was going to be a great night!

When I think of pampering myself  it usually means having control of the television, candles lit, big comfy chair, and something delicious in my belly.  With the weather being a cold and snowy as it had been, only one such treat came to mind, Affogato!  What's an affogato you ask?  Well, please allow me to share with you and prepare to have your world ROCKED!

Let's get started...
McCafè Coffee Affogato:
*Prep Time: 5-10 min.  *Cook Time: --  *Difficulty:  Easy  *Servings:  1 Affogato

Ingredients:

  •  4 tbsp. of finely ground Coffee
  • 1 scoop of your favorite Ice Cream
  • 1-2 c. Water

As I was walking down the coffee aisle I was thrilled to see that you can now purchase McCafè Coffee there!  Made with 100% Arabica Beans, and with 8 different flavors to choose from, it was CLEARLY a no brainer that this was the coffee choice for me!

Now for my coffee I am going to do an espresso style brew.  It makes a REALLY strong cup of coffee, but any kind of brew is fine here.

To make the espresso brew you will unscrew the top of the pot, and remove the filter.
Fill the chamber with water to just under the vent.

Next, place the filter back into the bottom of the pot and add the McCafè Coffee.
Make sure it is tightly packed.

Now place the espresso maker over a medium/low heat on the small burner and allow it to brew.
This will take 5-10 minutes depending on the size of your espresso maker.

*sigh*  Here is comes!
The aroma of the Premium Roast is absolutely DIVINE!

Once your coffee is ready add a scoop of your favorite ice cream to the bottom of your favorite coffee mug.  I used a salted caramel ice cream here.

Then slowly pour your McCafè coffee over the ice cream.

And there you have it!  A McCafè Coffee Affogato, the PERFECT "me time" treat!

The richness of the coffee combined with the sweet creaminess of the ice cream...THIS is the thing dreams are made of.  Now you will have to excuse me because I have a chick flick, fuzzy blanket, big comfy chair and THIS Affogato calling my name!

As always...
