How to Make Homemade Sesame Noodles Recipe

*This Post Contains Affiliate Links*

You may or may not have noticed this, but one of my favorite forms of cuisine is Asian food.  I love it!  I love the flavors, the scents, the textures, everything. Here in the Mid-Ohio Valley we have a plethora of Asian restaurants to choose from, but the reality of the situation is I don't always have the extra money to eat out.   That's why I like to have a couple of my favorite Asian recipes in my back pocket to make at home.  One such recipe is my Sesame Noodles.

A white bowl of sesame noodles with chop sticks in it.

They're quick, easy, and so very good!  I can't wait to show you how I do it so...

Let's get started!

Sesame Noodles:
*Prep Time: 5 minutes  *Cook Time:  10 minutes  *Difficulty:  Easy  *Servings:  8

The ingredients used for making the homemade sesame noodles.

  • 1 lb. Spaghetti Noodles
  • 1/4 c. Low Sodium Soy Sauce
  • 2 tbsp. Brown Sugar
  • 4 Cloves of Garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp. Rice Wine Vinegar
  • 2 tbsp. Sesame Oil
  • 1/2 tsp. Chili Garlic Sauce (or Siracha)
  • 4 tbsp. Canola Oil
  • Green Onions, sliced for garnish
  • Sesame seeds

A red dutch oven full of water over a flame.

This recipe is going to go by pretty fast.

To kick things off go ahead and place a pot of water over medium/high heat and bring to a boil.

A tablespoon of water being added to the pot of water.

To the water add a tablespoon of salt.
Why?  Because this is the ONLY chance you will have to season your pasta.

Pasta being added to the pot of water on the stove.

Once the salted water comes to a boil, add the pasta and cook according to the instructions on the box.

The sauce for the homemade sesame noodles in a measuring cup.

Next add the minced garlic, soy sauce and brown sugar to a mixing bowl or measuring cup.

I love these OXO liquid measuring cups because you can see the measurements from the top.

White rice vinegar being added to the sauce in the measuring cup.

Add the rice wine vinegar.

Sesame oil being added to the sauce in the measuring cup.

Add the sesame oil.

Canola oil being added to the sauce in the measuring cup.

Add the canola oil.

Chili paste being added to the sauce in the measuring cup

And add the garlic chili sauce.
Whisk it all together.

The cooked pasta in the colander.

When your pasta has finished cooking drain it and

The drained pasta returned to the red pot.

Return it to the pot you cooked it in.

The sauce being poured over the noodles in the red pot

To the hot pasta, pour in the sesame sauce.

The noodles being tossed in the sauce with tongs.

Give everything a good toss, allowing the hot pasta to absorb all of those great flavors from the sauce.  There will be a little excess in the bottom of the pan.

Chopped green onions and sesame seeds being added to the pot with the noodles.

Now add HALF of your sliced green onions and sprinkle in some sesame seeds.

Everything in the pot being tossed with tongs.

 Give it another quick toss.

The finished bowl of sesame noodled serve with chop sticks.

 Plate and serve!

There you have it!  This is the perfect meal for your busy midweek when you are wearing down, but don't want to go out.  It is done in under 20 minutes, and it is just as good as take out!  You will not be disappointed!  So get in your kitchen tonight and make these simple and quick Sesame Noodles!

And as always...
