Blackberry & Peach Skillet Dumpling Cobbler Recipe

I love when I have the opportunity to be creative in the kitchen.  That's exactly why I am so excited about today's recipe.  My friend April, who blogs over at The Tipsy Housewife, works with a family owned dumpling company called Chateau Foods.  She and Chateau Foods organized a friendly little recipe competition between myself and a few other bloggers to create fun and inventive recipes using these lovely little mini potato dumplings.  I was IMMEDIATELY inspired to create this delicious Blackberry and Peach Skillet Dumpling Cobbler Recipe!

Full of the amazing fruit flavors of the season, this dessert is perfect because you don't have to heat up your kitchen with a hot oven!  I know you're going to love it so...

Let's Get Started!

You are only going to need a few simple ingredients for this Blackberry & Peach Skillet Dumpling Cobbler.

  • 3 Ripe Peaches, peeled and sliced.  (you can also used canned)
  • 12 oz of Fresh Black Berries
  • 1 24 oz bag of Chateau Mini Potato Dumplings
  • 1 c Water
  • 1/2c Brown Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp Cornstarch
  • 4 Tbsp Unsalted Butter
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • Pinch of Salt
  • Sliced Toasted Almonds
  • Whipped Cream or Ice Cream

To begin you will need to peel your peaches.  I actually use a vegetable peeler to peel mine.

Next I slice them and place them in a large mixing bowl.

After that you will place a bot of water over high heat and bring to a boil.

While waiting for the water to come to a boil you can add the blackberries to the mixing bowl.

Along with the fruit you will add the cornstarch, brown sugar,

cinnamon, and salt.

You will also need to add the vanilla extract.

Mix everything together so that all of the fruit is coated.  Sit the bowl to the side so that it's yummy magic can happen and let's get back to those dumplings.

Once your water has come to a rolling boil you will place the Chateau Mini Potato Dumplings into the water and cook for 5 minutes.

While the potato dumplings are boiling you will need to add 2 tablespoons of the butter and 2 tablespoons of oil.

When the five minutes has elapsed you will drain the dumplings.

Add the dumplings to the HOT skillet and let them brown.

Once the potato dumplings have browned you will remove them from the pan and add the remaining butter.

Add the fruit and water to the pan and let GENTLY simmer until the sauce thickens.

Once the sauce has thickened you can return the dumplings to the pan and stir everything together.

And there you have it!  A gorgeous Blackberry & Peach Skillet Dumping Cobbler!  I can't wait to plate this up for you!

I simply scoop it out in a shallow dish and top with some fresh whipped cream or cold ice cream and sprinkle some chopped nuts for a little texture.  This is absolutely the PERFECT summer dessert so grab yourself some Chateau Mini Potato Dumplings and give this Blackberry & Peach Skillet Dumpling Cobbler tonight!

And as always...
