Savory chicken sausage, hearty tortellini, spinach, and a robust pan sauce, this dinner is sure to please anyone!  I know you are going to love it so...

Let's get started!

Chicken Sausage and Tortellini Skillet Dinner Recipe:
*Prep Time: 3 min *Cook Time: 16 min *Difficulty: Easy *Servings: 4

Ingredients:

  • 1 12 oz package of Italian Chicken Sausage, sliced
  • 1 12 oz package of Three Cheese Tortellini
  • 1 15 oz can of Diced Tomatoes
  • 2 c Fresh baby Spinach
  • 1 Tbsp Dried Minced Onion (Or 1 onion diced)
  • 1 tsp Italian Seasoning
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper
  • 1 Tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 1 c Water
  • Grated Parmesan Cheese to Top
This recipe is going to go by fast, so you are going to want to do things in steps.

To begin you are going to place a salted pot of water over high heat and let come to a boil.

Next place a deep skillet over medium/high heat and add a couple tablespoons of olive oil.

Once the pan is hot add the sliced chicken sausage and brown.

When the chicken sausage is browned, add the can of diced tomatoes.

Fill half of the can with water and add to the pan.

Now add the dried minced onion.

Before you ask, OF COURSE you can use a fresh onion diced.  You will need to sauté it with the sausage, but this was just easier this evening.

Its time to add the rest of the seasoning.
Add the garlic powder,

Italian seasoning,

brown sugar,

salt,

and pepper.

Stir everything together and bring to a simmer.

At this point the pot of water should be at a boil so add the tortellini and cook according the instructions on the package.

Add the cooked tortellini to the pan.

Toss everything in the sauce.

Turn the heat off and add the fresh spinach to the top of the pan.

Cover with a lid and let steam for 3 minutes.

Your spinach will look like this when it is finished.

Toss everything together and you are ready to go!

I LOVE this Chicken Sausage and Tortellini Skillet dinner because it is a healthy, well balanced meal, that I can be proud to serve anyone, and is ready in MINUTES!  We like to top it with a little grated parmesan before we eat and it is perfection.  I know you are going to love this meal so get in your kitchen and make it TONIGHT!

And as always...

  1. Oh, my goodness, Mandee. I just made tortellini last night and I wish I had had this recipe !! I was tired from Thanksgiving prep and I just threw some bottled spaghetti sauce over it, and it would have been sooo much better this way. I definitely will keep this recipe in my file for future dinners. Thanks! And have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Rosie @ The Magic Hutch

  2. This dish was delish...and super simple, the only change I made was using stewed tomatoes. Served with warm crusty bread. Already family members have requested the recipe.
