Bacon Cheddar Cheeseburger with Onion Jam and Garlic Aioli Recipe

The finished cheeseburger with the title above.

We are well into the summer season, and that means its time to get our #GrillNGear.  Many of us love attending a good BBQ, but often times we shy away from hosting because it can seem daunting and overwhelming.  If that's you, FEAR NO MORE!  Today I'm partnering with Giant Eagle to show you that with a few store bought items, quality ingredients, and some simple homemade tricks, you will be hosting the summer soiree that everyone will be talking about and my Bacon Cheddar Cheeseburgers with Onion Jam and Garlic Aioli are why!  I'm sharing all my secrets, so get ready!

First things first though, let's head to the store.

Many of the items I purchased at Giant Eagle, in the grocery aisle.

Even though Giant Eagle is sponsoring this post, I'm not lying when I say that I feel they have one of the best meat departments in my area.  I can always find fresh, quality, cuts of meat as well as creative things such as these gorgeous Certified Angus Beef Gourmet Bacon Cheeseburger Patties.  The chunks of cheddar and bacon in these things were huge, and I KNEW it was going to make a great burger.

After that I grabbed some Pepsi, Hellmann's, Pepperidge Farm Farmhouse Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies, and a few items from the deli.  That's the beauty of a great BBQ, you don't have to have anything fancy, just one show stopping item, and yummy things for everyone to munch on.   Now its time to head out and get this #GrillNGear show on the road!  I can't wait to share the recipe with you so...

I find inspiration for recipes from everywhere.  For example I was on the phone with my friend Zak, and we were talking about the restaurant at The Greenbrier, and luxury resort in White Sulphur Springs, WV.  He was telling me that they have these Horseradish Mashed Potatoes that are out of this world!

As soon as the words came out of his mouth I KNEW this was something I had to try, and I immediately went to my kitchen to start creating.  I can't wait to share this with you so...

Studhub's Steakhouse Meatloaf Recipe

There's an ongoing joke in my house that if my husband isn't nice to me, I won't cook for him.  However, the reality is my husband is actually a very good cook.  One of the things I love most about him in the kitchen is that he's so adventurous!  He loves to explore and experiment with different things, and I am always BLOWN AWAY with what he comes up with. His greatest triumph to date is this Steakhouse Meatloaf.

I've never met a potato I didn't like.  Seriously, I love them.  In the words of Samwise Gamgee "fry em, boil em, put em in a stew." Yeah, I'm there.  And if you're someone who doesn't like potatoes I think we may need to reevaluate our friendship.  I'm kidding, but honestly?  ANYWHO, back to potatoes.  At the top of my potato love list is fries.  Yes, I LOVE a good fry.  And now I can indulge in these naughty treats absolutely GUILT-FREE with my Perfect No-Oil Oven Fries.

Easy Tofu Scramble Recipe

This post contains affiliate links

This has been a fun and adventurous month in the Kitchen Wife household.  I've been in a bit of a food rut recently, so I decided to do something drastic, and make March a meatless month.  That's right, I said MEATLESS!!!  Now, so as not to put my King of Carnivore husband into a total state of shock, I decided we I would allow egg and cheese, but other than that no animal products would be consumed.  It's been a challenge, but a lot of fun too. I've been able to work with seasonings and ingredients that I wouldn't normally try.  Take this Easy Tofu Scramble Recipe for example.

Winter Pear and Walnut Salad Recipe

This week has been insane.  As many of you know, I care for my ninety-two year old mother-in-love.  She has Alzheimer's and dementia which means that she needs round-the-clock care.  Well, last Friday she fell and broke her hip.  It was devastating and we've basically been at the hospital non-stop ever since.  That means we've had A LOT of hospital food.  I finally had some time at home yesterday to get my house put together, and I was craving some salad. I went to the fridge to see what I could throw together and that is where this Winter Pear and Walnut Salad recipe was born.

Okay, I realize salads aren't necessarily recipes, but if you're anything like me, sometimes it's a struggle coming up with flavor combinations to keep them new and exciting.  That's why I love this Winter Pear and Walnut Salad recipe.  These simple pantry staples pack a whole lot of flavor which make this the perfect lunch or even a light supper.  I can't wait to share it with you so...

The Saturday Sip: My Winter Reading List and a Book Club

*This Post Contains Affiliate Links*

Seasonal Living is something I have talked a lot about on this blog as well as my social media platforms.  What is seasonal living you ask?  To me it means living the fullest life possible in every season.  This could be celebrating both large and obscure holidays, making the newest season of your favorite television show and event, doing seasonal activities such as visiting pumpkin farms or sleigh riding.  You get the picture.

Right now we are in the thick of winter.  One of the things I love doing in winter is reading.  There is just something magical about cozying up with a fuzzy blanket, a pup or two, and a good book that makes my heart happy in the winter time.  I usually set seasonal reading goals for myself, and make small bucket lists.  However, this year I thought it would be fun to make this a group effort.  I have put together a Winter Reading List, and created The Kitchen Wife Seasonal Reading Book Club Group on Facebook.  This way we can read together, discuss what we did and didn't like about each read, and grow more as a community.  I'm really excited about this and I hope you are too.

The winter reading list is as follows:

Since we are getting a late start to this one I kept the list short, but I'm really looking forward to diving into these books and talking about them with you.  One thing I want to stress is that this is NOT meant to be agonizing.  I don't mind if you read the actual book, kindle version, or listen to it on audible.  I say that because I will be doing all of the above.  Let's just keep this as fun and light hearted as possible!

So let's get started with our winter reading!

And as always...

Happy Reading, Happy Eating, and Happy Living,

Easy Beef Chow Fun Recipe

When I tell people that I'm trying to eat healthy I usually get one of two responses.  One, "Oh I would love to do that, but it is just too expensive."  And two, "Man, that would be nice, but I just don't have time."  Well, I'm here to tell you tell you that healthy eating can be both inexpensive and quick.  Take my Easy Beef Chow Fun for example.

Listen to Your Body...

Dear Kitchen Family,

Can we talk about food for a second?

This morning I woke up craving toast.  Not avocado toast, not sweet potato toast (yes, that's a thing), just good ol' fashioned toast.  You know, the crispy kind, with butter on it.  Of course my initial reaction was to deny myself because that's what society and the health food industry has taught me to do.  Carbs are bad...butter is bad...you will get fat.  But this is why we really need to educate ourselves about food.  Now I am no expert.  I am not a nutritionist.  Heck, I'm not even skinny, but I can tell you that while on this journey to health I have learned this.  A calorie is a calorie.  Fat is fat.  It's the kinds of calories and fats that you eat that are important.

Crock Pot Chicken Pho Recipe

Being that I live in West Virginia, my choice of exotic and trendy foods is pretty limited.  One of the dishes that's all the rage right now is Pho.  Its a Vietnamese noodle soup, with one of the most interesting flavors your will ever experience.  I've been craving it recently, but unfortunately there's not really any place around here to get it.  No worries though, I just make my own.  I've already shared my Beef Pho Recipe, my Vegetarian Pho recipe, so I was thinking that it would be a good time to do a Chicken Pho.

I had a lot going on over the weekend, so I decided to try and make this in my slow cooker, and I was BLOWN AWAY at how well it turned out!  I can't wait to share this Crock Pot Chicken Pho with you so...
