At Home Steak Hibachi with Vegetables

Whenever there is a special occasion to be celebrated, nine times out of ten, I will say I want Fusion.  Fusion is a hibachi style Japanese steak house in my town and I LOVE it.  The thing about Fusion is you're not getting out of there for less that $30-$40 a plate, depending on what you order.  So when the craving hits me for great hibachi, but my wallet says no, I just whip up my At Home Steak Hibachi with Vegetables.

This vibrant and healthy dish tastes EXACTLY like the stuff from my favorite Japanese steak house, but is a fraction of the cost!  I can't wait to share it with you so...

Let's Get Started!

At Home Steak Hibachi with Vegetables:
*Prep Time:  10 minutes *Cook Time: 16 minutes *Difficulty: Easy  *Servings: 4 healthy portions

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. Top Round Steak Cubed
  • 1 lb. Fresh Broccoli Florets
  • 1 Carrots, peeled and sliced
  • 2 Red Bell Peppers, julienned
  • 2 Yellows Squash, quartered
  • 1 Onion, bite-sized dice
  • 1/2 c. Teriyaki Sauce
  • 1/4 c. Low Sodium Soy Sauce
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste
  • 1 Tbsp. Canola Oil
  • 1 Tbsp. Unsalted Butter
One of the reasons I love making this at home is because I get to use a less expensive cut of beef, but still keep all of that great flavor!  Top Round is a fantastic example of the perfect cut for this recipe.

After you have diced your top round steak, season it with salt and pepper.

Now place a wok or deep skillet over a high heat.
Add 1 Tbsp of Canola oil and 1 Tbsp. of butter.
Now let the pan get SMOKING hot!  This is a fast cooking meal so you need that heat.

Once the pan is HOT add the meat and let it cook for 2 minutes.
Now pour in 1/4 c. of the teriyaki sauce.

After you have added the teriyaki sauce, allow the steak to cook 2 more minutes.
The sauce will reduce, and you will have a lovely medium steak.
Of course, if you want well done, cook it longer.  If you want rare cook it a little less.

Once the steak is cooked to the doneness you prefer, remove it from the pan and set to the side.

Now add the vegetables to the pan.

**COOK'S TIP**
When making quick fry dishes, make sure you have all of your prep work done in advance.  This will ensure success.

Season the vegetables with a little salt and pepper.
I know you are thinking "But you are adding soy??"  Yes, but it is a low sodium soy and there is a lot going on in the pan.  If you are truly concerned you can omit it.

Now add the final 1/4 c of teriyaki sauce.

And the soy sauce.

Give everything a toss and place a lid on the pan, and let it cook for 8 minutes, stirring occasionally.
This will steam those veggies, and give them AMAZING flavor.

After 8 minutes, uncover the pan, return the steak, toss, and let cook 2 more minutes.

And there you have it!  PERFECT At Home Steak Hibachi with Vegetables!  All the great flavors of your favorite Japanese Steakhouse, but at a fraction of the cost.  This entire meal, for 4 people, was under $20.  I like to serve this with some white rice and chopsticks.  It's a great way to turn the average weeknight meal into an event!

I would love to hear about your go to take-out recipes, so leave them for me in the comment box below, but until then get in the kitchen and make this At Home Steak Hibachi with Vegetables TONIGHT!

And as always...

  1. Hi, Mandee. It looks like you have another winner here! I have to tell you, last night I made your Rainy Day White Bean, Sausage and Kale soup last night, and it was DELICIOUS!!! We really enjoyed it, and my husband had a laugh when I explained how I had "massaged the kale" before cooking. I definitely will be making this again. Thank you! Rosie @ The Magic Hutch
