Spicy Thai Tuna Burger

Spicy Thai Tuna Burgers

Summer is officially upon us, and grilling season is here!  However, this doesn't mean you have to throw all of your healthy choices to the wind.  Not at all!  In fact, now is the time that you can really take your outdoor cooking to the next level, and my Spicy Thai Tuna Burgers are the perfect example of that.  With just a few simple ingredients you will be wowing your friends around the grill, and you will not believe how simple this is!  I can't wait to share it with you so...

Let's Get Started!

The key to what makes my tuna burgers so simple and so delicious is the Bumble Bee Sensations Spicy Thai Chili Tuna.  Bumble Bee Sensations lightly marinated premium tuna is delicious on-the-go, or as an addition to your favorite sandwich or seafood recipe. Available in 3.6oz kits or 4oz cans.

Spicy Thai Tuna Burgers:
*Prep Time: 5 min.  *Cook Time:  8-10 min.  *Difficulty:  Easy  *Servings: 2 Burgers

Ingredients:

  • 2 Cans of Bumble Bee Sensations Spicy Thai Chili Tuna
  • 1 c. Panko Bread Crumbs
  • 2 Eggs, lightly beaten
  • 4 Scallion, sliced
  • Coleslaw
  • Brioche Bun
  • Lettuce
  • Red onion

To begin, drain the excess liquid off of the tuna and place into a mixing bowl.
You can see that each can has a Thai chili in it.  You can keep this chili in the mixture or remove it.  Personally I prefer to remove it.

Next add the slice scallions,

Panko Bread Crumbs,

And lightly, beaten egg.

With your rubber spatula mix everything together.
If your mixture appears to be too wet, add a little more bread crumbs.

When a tester patty holds together, you know it is ready.

You will notice that I didn't use any salt or pepper.  The flavor was spot on right out of the can, that I didn't feel it needed any extra seasoning.

Before I cook my burger, I want to toast my bun.
I butter it and then toast in my skillet.

Now I can add 2-3 tbps of oil to my hot skillet.

Form my burger patty.

And cook in the skillet for 4 min over medium/high heat on the first side.

Carefully flip, and cook for another 4 minutes.

Assemble your burger and enjoy!

Now the lettuce and onion are optional (but I don't know why you would leave them off), but let me tell you, you will NOT want to skip the coleslaw.  It provided the perfect cool, sweetness to the spiciness of the tuna burger.  You can purchase pre-made, or check my homemade coleslaw recipe HERE.

This burger is flavorful, filling, and healthy!  It is PERFECT for you summer cooking.  Not to mention that you can be eating in under 20 min!  So tonight get in the kitchen and give these Spicy Thai Tuna Burgers a try and I would love to hear about any of your favorite Bumble Bee Tuna recipes in the comments!

And as always, Happy Reading, Happy Eating, Happy Living,
