Homemade Lasagna

Homemade Lasagna

I have openly discussed with you that I struggled with cooking in the early years of my marriage.  So when I got to the point where I was feeling confident in the kitchen, I wanted to take on one of my very favorite dishes, Lasagna!  Honestly, what is there NOT to love about lasagna?  It's cheesy, savory, pasta-li-cious, goodness warms my heart and fills my soul like NO other!  I know that it can feel a little intimidating at first, but it couldn't be more simple and I can't wait to share with you how I do it!

Let's get started!

Homemade Lasagna:
*Prep Time: 30 min.  *Cook Time: 1 hour  *Difficulty:  Easy  *Serving: 6-8

Ingredients:

  • Homemade Spaghetti Sauce, double batch
  • 1 Large Container of Ricotta Cheese
  • 2 8 oz. Block of Mozzarella Cheese, shredded
  • 1 8 oz. Wedge of Parmesan Cheese, shredded
  • 1 egg
  • 2 Boxes of No Boil Noodles
  • 1 tbsp. Parsley
  • Salt & Pepper
To begin, pre heat your oven to 350 degrees.

Now take a moment to shred the cheese and...

Make the ricotta filling.
To make the filling you combine the ricotta, egg, a palm full of the shredded cheese, parsley, salt, and pepper.  Stir it all together until smooth.

Now you can make your homemade spaghetti sauce  or just add two jars of your favorite jarred sauce to 1 lb. of cooked ground beef and 1 lb. of cooked Italian sausage.

Now it's time to assemble!

You will want to use the deepest pan you have for this.

In the bottom of the pan, spread a thin layer of the sauce.  This will help the noodles to not stick.

Now place a layer of noodles on the bottom.
(If you can't find no boil noodles, just soak the boil kind in a baking dish of hot water for 30 min.  No boil needed ;) )

Now place 6 dollops of the ricotta mixture over the noodles.

Sprinkle a third of the shredded cheese over the noodles.

Now drizzle a layer of sauce over the noodle and cheese mixture.

Add another later of noodles, press down and continue the process until you have about 3-4 layers.

When you get to the final layer you will just add the sauce and...

The remainder of the cheese.

Sprinkle with a little fresh parsley.

Cover with foil.

And place in the preheated oven.

You are going to bake this for 45 minutes.

Next remove the foil from the pan.

Place it back into the oven.

And bake for another 15 minutes.

Pull it out of the oven and let it set for 15-30 minutes.  This will make sure you get those great layers cubes of pasta goodness you love!

And that's it!  You did it!  The most DELICIOUS lasagna you will ever eat!  I know you are going to love it!  In fact, it was so good that I forgot to take a picture of what it looked like on my plate because I was too busy eating it!  *lol*

So get in the kitchen tonight and give this amazing recipe for Homemade Lasagna a try!

And as always,
