30 Day Cleaning Challenge and Homemade Cleaners

The Kitchen Wife has linked up with Melissa Haag over at www.plaidfuzz.com, in our Facebook group called Uncommon Wealth, for a 30 DAY SPRING CLEANING CHALLENGE!

Each week I will be posting my plan of action for the week, along with a helpful homemade cleaner recipe.

This week my plan of action is to whip my house into basic shape.
I mean, how am I supposed to do any deep cleaning when I can't get to the stuff that needs deep cleaned right?

So this week, this will be my daily routine:
  • Devotions
  • Coffee
  • Post Daily Blog
  • Make Beds
  • Start a Load of Laundry
  • Dust, Wipe Down Vanities, & Clean Counters
  • Clean All Glass
  • Do Dishes
  • Scoop Litter Box
  • Take Out Trash, As Needed
  • Sweep Floors
  • Mop
  • Do a 20 Minute De-Clutter in One Room of the House
  • Do a 10 Minutes Pick-up before bed

My Logic in this, is that by doing these things daily, my house will be in a great position to add a bigger chore next week.  After all, this is about making Spring Cleaning as easy as possible for EVERYONE

One of the other things I will be doing is making my own HOMEMADE ALL-PURPOSE CLEANER!  That's right, my kitchen is not just for preparing great meals!

As many of you know, my 90 year old Mother-in-Love lives with us.  I am also a mother to 4 adorable little fur babies.  That has lead me to really re-think how I clean my home and what I use to clean it.

Many times we can be overcome by the harmful smells that our store bought household cleaners leave behind.
Not to mention our pets and children can become very ill if they ingest these cleaners in any way.

In doing some research I have found that vinegar has nearly the same germ fighting power as bleach!  AS BLEACH!  Yet, we can consume vinegar without it hurting us or our families.  Adding a little baking soda, also all natural, will give your cleaner a nice scrubbing agent, and a little lemon juice will help to brighten things up as well as cut the smell that vinegar can leave behind.

Let me share with you my recipe.

Ingredients:
  • The juice of one lemon (fresh)
  • 1 cup White Vinegar
  • ½ cup Baking Soda
  • 3 cups Water

Tools:
  • A juicing tool
  • A Spray Bottle
Simply combine all of the ingredients in a spray bottle and start disinfecting!
It's that simple!

**UPDATE**
MAKE SURE YOU COMBINE THESE INGREDIENTS OVER THE SINK!

I hope you will join Melissa and I in this 30 Day Challenge and I would love to hear about your
progress on my Facebook Page

As Always...

Happy Reading, Happy Eating, and Happy Living,

  1. This is such a great resource that you are providing and you give it away for free. I love seeing websites that understand the value of providing a quality resource for free. It is the old what goes around comes around routine. website

  3. Our residential cleaners remove build-up mould, dirt, and stubborn areas in your house or flat. Thorough cleaning is an excellent addition to regular cleaning and we will go one room at a time. This kitchen type of cleaning is a lot more than your weekly cleans with dusting and vacuuming

  4. Make sure the ceiling fans are switched off before you begin dusting. Dust the tops of furniture and the undersides of shelves, as well as handrails, picture frames, knickknacks, and television screens. Tie a microfiber cloth to the end of a mop or broom for hard-to-reach spots like blinds and upper shelves. Before vacuuming, change the linens in the bedrooms.
